Causing Fear and Paranoia for fun since 2003.

Ok, so I was over at a friend's house and we were flipping through channels and we ran across a show on discovery channel called Wreckrecreation Nation and we saw this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS3YpCixS8g

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3pp4Gl9yEE

After a few back and forths about our thoughts on the game, we all kind of realized that it would be freaking awesome to go smack the crap out of one another. So, we built weapons and decided to meet this past weekend.

There were 6 of us but I must say that we had an ABSOLUTE BLAST! I used to play paintball a bunch and, to me, this is WAY more physical and adrenaline pumping than paintball ever was! (it's also WAY cheaper.)

If it seems like something you'd be interested in, go to www.dagorhir.com and look into it a bit more. I'm going to try to get as many people interested as I can so we can start our own chapter and have huge battles. I mean, how awesome would it be to have 20 on 20 or even 100 vs. 100?

If you're interested in learning more or you need help building weapons or have ANY questions, you can message me here, talk to me at the store, or email me at cptjockstrap@hotmail.com

Hope to hear from you soon!

Omg!  Have you watched Role Models yet?  I know in that movie they were supposed to be making fun of it, but I found those to be the best parts!  Honestly, this looks awesome to me!  I would be so down.  I've already shown the people here this post (Brad, Travis, Jerome, Brent).  And I'm hoping we can get more people to do this because even Dorothy would play!

I'd probably use a bow just because of how ridiculously huge the arrows are.

You should play John.  Ryan came by tonight with some weapons and we tried it out.  It was a blast.  Brad and I beat the hell out of each other.  It was some epic action lol.

Yeah, you definitely should play! Bows are the bane of my existence when we're playing (They kill me lots Sad ) but I have to admit they are a heck of a lot of fun to shoot and even go up against.

I can help you get started with a bow if you're interested. I will warn you a little and say that bows are one of the more expensive weapons to use/make, though.
It will cost about 60-80 bucks for a bow and a quiver of complete arrows. Of course, you can go WAY above that price if you aren't trying to be frugal.

But, like I said, I've got complete instructions on how to make safe arrows and I've made safe arrows already... so yeah.

I'd start with finding a bow as that will most likely be your biggest hurdle. You're looking for a regular recurve (longbow) with no more than 35 pounds of pull. You can usually find these at sporting goods stores and they are sold as youth bows. The most important thing is that it is not a compound bow (the one with pulleys) and that it has no more than 35 pounds of pull max. Whether or not it is made of wood or composite materials is entirely up to your preference.

hope to see you join us!

At the very least I'd want to watch haha
I agree with John. That WAS the best part of Role Models.

I'm officially renting the movie tonight. You've all got me curious now.

You're more than welcome to come watch AND play if you want. I actually have built a stockpile, yes, a STOCKPILE of loaner weapons for people to use so they can try it out to see if they like it. This is definitely one of those things where the more we have, the better. I'll just say that we've got enough interest as of right now that we could very easily start our own chapter of Dagorhir.

That's why you're supposed to wear armor. =P

Yes, armor helps in that situation. Also, using a finished weapon usually stops the problems you were having. Just cap it and cover it in cloth and I guarantee you won't have trouble. The weapons are made the way they are with the covers and end caps for a reason.

You didn't hurt them too bad because they just kept going at it.

Ok, so we've actually decided on a date to try this out. We will be having a sparring match on Sunday, March 29th at 1:00. It will be at Gatlin Park (Off Tyler, across from Briarwood Swim Club). I will have a couple of loaner weapons available if you're interested in coming out and trying it.

Weapons checks will still happen. There is not costume requirement since this is just a mess around and practice deal. Hope to see you there!

Ok, so I'm filling out a chapter application right now and I've been debating all weekend what to call our realm. I literally spent all my time while I was moving thinking of a name.

Here's the one that I think is best. What do you all think?

Fauldenfel

(it could also be spelled Faldenfel or Fauldenfell. I think the way I have it above looks best on paper)

It ties the group to where we are, in a way, and still sounds medieval/ fantasy. Yes? No? Opinions please!

I like it, and I like the Fauldenfell spelling best... (because it reminds me of Warhammer  Grin)
